Book Week NI
This week in St. Mary's we have been celebrating Book Week NI.
Book Week NI is a joint initiative celebrating the pleasures and benefits of reading, arising from the partnership between BBC Northern Ireland and Libraries NI.
Now in its seventh year, Book Week NI encourages everyone to visit their local library to read.
Reading for pleasure has many great benefits for mental health and wellbeing, and even taking a few minutes to read each day can provide much needed escapism and relaxation from busy, daily lives.
Pupils in St. Mary's make time to read in class daily with the DEAR- drop everything and read time in class . The mobile library visits school every fortnight and the children also borrow books from our well stocked central library. This weekend library branches will be busy hosting events and activities for adults and children of all ages so it is the perfect time to make use of your library card to reconnect with your local library. Simply call in to say hello, borrow or return books or get the whole family to join in whatever activity is taking place!
Thank you to BookTrust NI for the story ‘We’re Going to Find the Monster’ by Malorie Blackman and Dapa Adelo #TimeToRead 🙌🏻 The Primary 1 boys and girls loved it! 😀
