Congratulations Lucy 'Aer Lingus / Irish News and Q Radio Art Competition Winner
In the early hours of the morning, St. Mary's Primary School lit up the town of Ballygawley, with the arrival of the Q Radio Bus. Aer lingus, in partnership with the Irish News and Q Radio were celebrating 10 years of the Aer Lingus Art for Schools’ Competition and the announcement of the winner was being made from the winning school. The excitement was palpable as pupils started to arrive early.
Cate and Steven on the morning show made the announcement that our own Lucy Lyon's had won the competition. She and her entire class would receive a once in a lifetime day trip to London. They will fly from George Best Belfast City Airport to London Heathrow, spend the day at the Science Museum. The children will take a Virtual Reality space descent with astronaut Tim Peakes and visit Tomorrow’s World.
This year’s competition challenged pupils across Northern Ireland in Primaries 4, 5, 6 and 7, to imagine and draw what the world would look like 10 years into the future in 2028. Lucy's amazing ideas caught the attention of the judges earning her top honours. Well done Lucy!
Please check out the Irish News over the coming days as there will be an article on Lucy's success. Thank you to Aer Lingus, the Irish News and Q Radio for affording this amazing opportunity to the children.
