Farewell Mr. Cullen
Today the pupils and staff bid a fond farewell to our much loved Principal Mr. Cullen as he leaves us after 23 years in St. Mary's. We had a very special assembly were Mr. Cullen presented the children with their Pupil of the week prizes one last time. It was then his turn to receive some gifts from the pupils. Mark our oldest boy presented Mr. Cullen with a memory box , while Ada our youngest pupil handed over a special message book to mark the occasion. Mrs Cullen received some flowers from Layla. It was then time for a musical performance from P1-3 who entertained us with 'You've got a Friend in me,' before we took Mr. Cullen down memory lane with a video which captured some highlights from his time in St. Mary's. Our special assembly concluded with the children from P4-7 performing an original version of ' You will always be our Friend.' Brendan penned a poem for Mr. Cullen on his arrival to St. Mary's in 2000 so it was only fitting to draw proceedings to an end with a farewell poem from Brendan today. The children as always were outstanding and enjoyed the magic show as a special treat for their preparations for today's assembly and Monday's mass. Mr. Cullen visited each classroom and spent time with the children. He appreciated all the work involved and is looking forward to Monday evening. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day so special and a fitting tribute to Mr. Cullen who received a guard of honour from the pupils and staff as he left school for the final time as Principal of St. Mary's.
